Mental-Mom-Clutter

I suffer from mental-mom-clutter (also known as the rumoured ‘mom brain’ that haunts us post partum.) There are days where I feel so out of it and I find myself doing/saying such silly things that don’t make sense, and it is because my mind is overloaded with information! After a ton of practice I learned to slowly let thoughts go to make a clear and open space for myself in my own head, I found myself more organized and productive during the day. If you’re anything like me and can’t sleep when the baby sleeps, here are some other simple ways to replenish, lift and cleanse your spirit:

I would spend one of the baby’s nap sessions just doing something for myself, whether it be just lying in bed, or reading a book or watch a movie! Mornings are always the busiest for me, when I set some time aside for myself, I feel well rested after and I do my housework the rest of the day in a good mood

Put on some make up and dress out of my pjs. It makes me feel like i’m heading out and I find this gives me a boost of energy

Yoga/meditate even if its just for 10-15 minutes

These are just a few things you can do at home too! Self-care is the best care. Just take a moment to do something that makes you feel like you again! It can even be something as simple as lighting your favourite scented candle while you wash dishes or turn up your favourite playlist while you fold the laundry! Anything that connects you back to your own identity.
